My Scrapbook Room

Img_5620 I am very fortunate that I have my own scrapbook room.  It's small, not really tiny, but certainly adequate for my needs. It was once a bathroom, and then when we extended our house, the old bathroom became my utility room, which housed the washing machine, tumbledryer and a stainless steel sink, with slatted wooden shelves behind the door for all the laundry.

After a couple of years scrapping on the dining room table, and my stash outgrew the few drawers and cupboards in the sideboard, I had the brainwave of converting my utility room to a scraproom.  It wasn't overly hard, but I did needed to move all the laundry to another home, and move my stash in. I am a standing up scrapbooker, and enjoy the height of the worksurface above the washing machine.  I also have to share my room with the boiler, and other than a fab place to put all my magnetic embellishments I have made, it keeps me warm in the winter, and I have a large window in front of me for brilliant natural light.

Img_5624 I have been through so many different plastic drawed boxes bought from DIY stores over the last couple of years, but I have discarded the majority of them now, and have more aesthetic looking storage. I found these pretty metal hooks and and triple shelving metal unit in a gardening centre, they have that lovely distressed look, almost with a bit of rust on them.  The hooks are great for hanging odds and ends.

Img_5618  Earlier this year, I bought some shelving so I could display some of my pretty stash on shelves, and some of my mini books and smaller projects on the walls and shelves, and confine most of my stash in either plastic boxes, or small metal tins.  So when I pack up for a crop, everything slides into the pockets of my totes.

I bought pine wooden shelving which I painted white, and my DH put them up on the walls for me. I store all my photo boxes on the top shelves, and all my pretty prima bottles and other bottles of buttons, and paint etc.

Img_5630 I have one awkward place beside the boiler, where there isn't a lot of space, but if I didn't use it it would be a waste, so in went another white shelf, and here I keep all my plastic boxes of embellishments and clear stamps.

Img_5633 Working our way around the room, we come to the old wooden slatted laundry shelving which was perfect for 12" x 12" storage.  It seems a bit overladen, but it's perfectly fastened to the wall.

It holds all my recent albums, all my patterned paper by manufacturer, my cardstock in rainbow colours, and all my kits, which I keep labelled up in Cropper Hopper boxes, with the kit designer and month.  I'm quite organised really!!  In fact these pics are a few months old now, and I've improved things a bit, and have more of my work displayed in my room.  Just little projects and minibooks.
