I have been tracing my family tree for many years now. My current family in this country is very slim, the first world war saw to that unfortunately, but I thought I would try and dedicate a page here on my blog for information about my ancestors. Some of them were quite interesting.
On my mother's side I descend from an Essex lad who stole a tablecloth, got transported to Tasmania, and started my Australian roots with The Cowell family in Van Diemans Land. But I'll save that for another time.
My paternal side is split between the Scottish Alstons, and the Somerset Cayfords, both sides ending up in the East End of London, and my grandparents meeting and marrying in North London.
I lost both my grandparent's brothers in the First World War, so it is them that I am going to start with.
Here is the tree so far.
So my family was halved two generations before me, both Hugh Francis Alston and George Everett Cayford, bachelors were killed during the First World War. I shall dedicate a page each to them, and record what I know already.
